Correct answer: c) Cavalier Poets/Caroline Poets
The Cavalier Poets
The Cavalier Poets were a group of writers from the 17th century in England. They are generally defined by their class and the fact that they originated from that who supported Charles I during the English Civil War. The term “cavalier” was used to describe this group as an insult, one that portrayed them as boisterous, uneducated, and without manners. The majority of the poets in this group were courtiers or men who attended court and paid homage to the monarch. But not all writers could be defined in the same way. Interesting several of the most important cavalier poets died before the English Civil War even they began the term “cavalier” was used.
