In the past, Bible was translated and taught by priests. Due to the language barrier, no one could understand the Bible, therefore, priests made translations which were not even the part of Bible.
In addition, the translation of the Bible into a vernacular language was forbidden in England. In such a restricted situation, Tyndale translated the Bible into the vernacular language so everyone can read what is written in the Bible. After the translation of the Bible which is known as "Tyndale's New Testament", he moved to Cologne to print out his work of translation. Although it was illegal to work, he was getting its print secretly. When they knew it, they forced him to halt the printing and flee. In Worms, he had a new edition printed in 1526 in 3000 copies. Some of the prints were smuggled into England and secretly sold there, but owning William Tyndale's English New Testament was illegal and could be the reason for death plenty for holders. Hence, most of the copies were destroyed by authorities as the danger of printing and distributing the copies of the Bible. Only three copies out of 1526 remained till now which are Tyndale's New Testament.
