Jonathan Swift was an Irish author. He wrote poetry and essays expressing his stance on issues of his day. A Modest Proposal as an attempt to convince the Irish parliament to improve the conditions of the poor. It is a satirical essay published anonymously by swift in 1792. The work was aimed at the aristocracy and they responded in turn. In this essay, he gave a solution for poverty-stricken Ireland through irony.
