The dominance of the Elizabethan age (Shakespearean age) was due to the great prose writers, poets, and dramatists. It is a fact that the mood of the nation has a keen impact on greatness. This age is also dominant in English literature, the great names: Shakespeare, Spencer, Bacon, and Marlowe produced outstanding works.

In the Jacobean period, a new kind of poetry was introduced by John Donne in James’ period, when he was at the age of thirty Elizabeth died. John Donne produced new kinds of literature like preacher poetry, songs, sonnets, marriage poems, and satirical poems with a genuine voice and harsh meters. He used another language device conceit and he also wrote metaphysical poems.
