John Wycliffe was a 14th-century scholar and theologian who initiated the Protestant Reformation. Wycliffe is also noted for his work translating the Bible into Middle English, which helped spread the gospel throughout England and the rest of Europe. Wycliffe was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1495, and his remains are still housed in the Wycliffe Chapel in Oxford.
